  • What is self-storage and how does it work?

    Self-storage is a service offering flexible, do-it-yourself storage for business and domestic customers. We provide clean, dry, individually alarmed storage units access to which is available free of charge seven days a week. Your storage unit is locked with your own lock ensuring that only you have access to your goods.

  • Why do I need my own padlock?

    You need your own padlock to ensure that you are the sole key holder for your unit. As a web site customer we offer you a free padlock. Simply print the voucher off on the home page.

  • How much does it cost to store my things with Ideal?

    The cost of a storage unit depends upon the size required. We suggest that you consult our on line size estimator or speak to a member of our staff to determine the optimum storage for your requirements. A price can then be quoted on the correct size unit. At Ideal Self Storage we have units ranging from 50 sq. ft. to 300 sq. ft. or more and prices start from as little as $45.00 per month.
    The price you are quoted by our staff includes your storage charge, rates, service charges, utility bills and maintenance costs, and a lock and key. You may wish to purchase optional contents insurance from us also.

    For long term storage we also offer the following pre-payment discounts:

    5% off storage charge for 6 months pre payment.
    1 month free for 12 months pre payment.
    We also offer a 10% discount to seniors.

  • How often can I have access to my goods and how much does it cost for access?

    We offer unlimited access to your goods twenty four hours a day seven days a week, so you can add or remove items from your storage unit whenever you require. Access is Free at Ideal Self Storage.

  • Do I have to book a unit in advance?

    Can I move in today?

    Yes, a member of our staff will fill in our simple storage agreement with you, (this takes approximately 10 minutes) and then you can move your goods in straight away.

  • What are your office hours?

    Our office hours are:
    Monday – Friday 9 am – 5 pm
    Saturday 9 am – 3 pm
    Sunday: closed

  • What are the gate hours?

    The gate is controlled by computer 24 hours a day.
    The normal gate hours are 7 am – 7 pm, 7 days a week. However, you may request 24 hour access.

  • Do I have to sign a lease?

    Yes, you sign a straightforward self-storage rental agreement prior to moving into your unit. The agreement sets forth the terms and conditions of the contract. The contract takes approximately ten minutes to complete.

  • How do I get my goods to you?

    You bring your goods in your own vehicle if you have enough space. We have ample car parking and large loading/unloading areas at all of our stores. Alternatively, we can recommend local van hire/removal companies to help with your transportation.

  • Do you do removals/van hire?

    No, we are purely a self storage center. However, we will recommend approved local removal/van hire companies some of which offer discounted rates to Ideal Self Storage customers.

  • What is the smallest unit you have available?

    Our smallest units are 5 ft. x 10 ft. x 8 ft in height.

  • Can I transfer to another unit if I find I have too much or too little space?

    You are welcome to move to another size unit at any time depending on your storage requirements and availability.

  • Are the storage units heated?

    Ideal Self Storage does provide climate-controlled units, which are ideal for the storage of sensitive items. Please contact us for further details.

  • What security features do the units have?

    Ideal Self Storage does incorporate extensive security features including:
    • 24 hour CCTV located at strategic spots throughout the facility both inside and outside the buildings including the entrance and exit gates.
    • A sophisticated twin alarm system, one for the building and one for each storage unit.
    • Coded electronic gate access to the facility accessible only with your own personal pin number.

  • What is the minimum time I can store with you?

    Our Minimum storage period is one month.

  • Are the leases month to month?

    Yes, but we do not pro-rate rent. Your rental agreement starts on your anniversary date of move in.

  • Once I have a unit how long can I stay?

    You are welcome to stay for a month, a year or for as long as you require.

  • Do you have RV or outside parking?

    No, we do not have outside parking or RV storage, but you can store your car with us.

  • Do I have to give you notice to leave?

    No, we do not require notification of your intent to vacate your unit. We do ask that you take everything out of the unit and sweep the unit out completely when you vacate. Return the keys to our office before you leave the facility.

  • What can I store in my unit?

    You can store almost anything in our units. The only exceptions are:
    Living items such as animals & plants
    Hazardous materials such as flammable liquids and explosives
    Items that could decompose such as exposed foodstuffs
    Unauthorized goods such as firearms, etc.

  • Do you sell boxes and packing supplies?

    Yes, we sell an extensive range of packing materials from boxes to bubble wrap. Packing supplies can be purchased in person from our stores or alternatively you can purchase your packing materials on line.

  • Will you accept deliveries to my unit?

    Yes, by pre-arrangement we can hold a key to your unit and take delivery of goods for you. We sign for the amount of packages received but not for the contents as this would necessitate us opening your packages. This service is offered free of charge.

  • Do you have hand-carts available?

    Yes, we provide hand carts and pallets on wheels free of charge for our customers.

  • Is there someone at the store I can talk to if I have a problem?

    There will always be a trained member of staff available six days a week during our office hours. Outside of office hours our trained management staff can answer any questions via telephone.

  • Where is my nearest Ideal Self Storage facility?

    We are conveniently located on Highland Rd, just 3 miles east of the Kensington Valley Outlet stores.
